You lead international teams. You handle multiple time zones like a magician. You’re the go-to problem solver when things get messy.
You speak three languages and smile like everything’s under control.
You’re still standing and performing, while quietly falling apart inside.
Yes, I’m talking to you. The high-performing expat.

A short story that might feel a little too familiar
Laura was a regional director for a luxury brand in South America. Big title. Bigger pressure.
When she reached out, she didn’t talk about burnout or anxiety. She just said: “I’m not okay. But I can’t explain why.”
Within minutes, I could see it: she’d stopped listening to herself.
She wasn’t sleeping.
She skipped meals or forgot to eat entirely.
She wore emotional armor to every meeting.
She cried after each one.
And her partner said she was “in another dimension.”
She wasn’t falling apart in a visible way. She was still functioning. Still achieving. And that’s the problem.
You get rewarded for pushing through.
So you keep doing it.
Until something inside you—your body, your brain, your relationships—says: enough.

Why high-performing expats like you push too far
You didn’t take an international role to slow down and take long walks.
You came to grow. To prove yourself. To make it all work in your life abroad, no matter what.
So you say things like:
“I’ll rest after this project.”
“I just need to adjust.”
“This is part of the deal.”
And just like that, months turn into years.
You’re still adjusting.
Still postponing rest.
Still trying to fix everything.
But this deal you’re in? It’s starting to cost you, more than you want to admit.

4 ways to stop crashing and keep performing
1. Call it what it is
You’re not “a little tired.”
You’re drained. Exhausted. Overwhelmed.
Start tracking your energy for one week. Not your output, your energy.
What drains you? What conversations make you feel hollow? What moments turn you into a robot?
It’s not woo-woo. It’s data. And it matters.
2. Treat rest like a business meeting
You don’t have to deserve rest. You’re a high-performing expat, you’re not a robot that earns maintenance breaks.
Rest should be scheduled. Protected.
You block time for board meetings, block time for a walk. A nap. Silence.
Rest isn’t weakness. It’s how high-performing expats like you stay in the game long-term.
3. Your partner isn’t your therapist
If your only emotional outlet is your partner, you’re creating silent pressure in that relationship. And guess what? They’re not trained to hold all of that.
You need a space where you don’t have to lead, fix, or manage anything. A space where it’s not about performing, but about being honest.
That’s where I come in.
4. Redefine what success means, for real
If success requires ignoring your health, your body, and your mind…
Then you’re not winning. You’re surviving.
High-performing expats often don’t stop until something breaks.
But you don’t have to reach that point. You can choose differently now.

You can be high-performing expat and still be human
Let’s be real: the global mobility world is full of ghosted LinkedIn profiles and “Where are they now?” cases.
So many high-performing expats burn out, quit, or disappear quietly.
You’ve probably seen it happen.
And you?
You’re still here. Which means you’ve got options.
I work with people like you – C-suite leaders, expat couples, ambitious professionals who’ve had enough of pretending they’re fine.
Yes, I’m a psychologist and an EMCC coach. Yes, I’ve lived abroad and worked with global teams.
But what matters most? I get what you’re going through, and I won’t offer you copy-paste solutions.
Your performance should never come at the cost of your well-being.
