Gabriela Encina, psychologist and keynote speaker on expat mental health, leadership, and belonging

Companies invest a lot in relocating their best people. They train them, brief them, explain the local culture, and organise the welcome lunch.
Still, something breaks down. They disengage. Underperform. Leave.

The real problem: the struggles that stay off engagement surveys.

That’s what I bring to the stage. What high-achieving expats live through and rarely say out loud. I tell those stories with humour, honesty, and enough uncomfortable truth that people in the room think: I’ve felt that too.

20+ years. 3 languages. 5 continents.
Every keynote turns real human experience into conversations that matter and concrete tools people can use the next day.

Global professionals stay when someone finally sees what they’ve been carrying. That someone can be me, on your stage.

80%

of expat employees report negative mental-health symptoms linked to their work environment.

49%

of expat employees have experienced burnout on assignment.

27%

of expat employees took sick leave for their mental health in the past year.

200%

of an annual salary. The upper-end cost of replacing a single employee who leaves.

Measurable losses. Preventable losses. The right voice in the room changes what happens next.

When you book me, your audience gets someone who has heard it directly from the people you’re trying to keep. Their real stories, finally told out loud.

Three signature keynotes, plus one built for your stage.

Every talk is grounded in real stories from the people organisations are trying to keep: international leaders, high-achievers, and the partners carrying half the move. Each keynote is shaped with the event host beforehand, so it lands where your audience lives.

01 · The leader who travels well

Authentic leadership across borders

For the leader who keeps hearing “adapt” and still wonders: adapt to what?

  • Why the same leadership playbook that made someone great at home can work against them abroad.
  • The small human moves (starting with getting names right) that build trust faster than any offsite.
  • How to hold authority and vulnerability in the same hand, in front of a room that speaks five languages.

02 · The ones who look fine

Belonging and connection in multicultural teams

Your top performers want what most people want: to be seen.

  • Why brilliant expats often check out long before they quietly quit.
  • Belonging as a leadership practice, built through daily habits and small decisions.
  • What shifts when someone finally feels the room is theirs too.

03 · The flawless impostor

Procrastination, impostor syndrome and leadership presence

The higher they climb, the better they get at hiding the ceiling in their head.

  • Why high performers procrastinate on the exact things that would move them forward.
  • The difference between humility and hiding. One builds teams. The other drains them.
  • Practical tools to lead with full presence, as yourself.

04 · Built for your stage

The bespoke option

For events that need their own keynote.

When your summit, conference, or company moment calls for something custom, I build keynotes around your audience, your industry, and the outcome you want in the room. Same depth, same psychological grounding, written for your stage.

Booking Questions

What event hosts ask me before they reach out.

Languages, formats, fees, lead times, and what makes my keynotes different. Your booking questions, answered.

What languages do you deliver keynotes in?

Full keynotes in English and Spanish. Shorter talks, panels, and Q&A sessions in German. All three with the same warmth and the same sting.

How far in advance should we book you?

Six months ahead is ideal, and three months is the usual minimum for an in-person engagement. For closer dates, send the request anyway. Exceptions happen.

What's your standard keynote length?

30, 45, or 60 minutes, depending on what your event needs. Longer formats include more storytelling and Q&A. Shorter formats land one sharp idea that stays with the audience.
